The American Floor Safety Alliance was founded by John Sotter, Claudius Nan, and Brian Vassallo. Together, we provide nationwide coverage for floor (and road) slip resistance testing, offering both on-site and laboratory services.

We focus on one thing: accurate slip resistance testing. Our mission is to ensure that building owners, architects, specifiers, and flooring manufacturers have reliable data so they can make informed decisions and prevent slips and falls before they happen.

Because the truth is simple: there are no slip-and-fall “accidents.” These incidents occur when the science of traction and walkway safety is ignored.

For decades, the development of practical, science-based guidance in this field has lagged behind what safety professionals actually need. While committees and industry groups continue to debate methods and standards, property owners are left without clear, actionable guidance on how to measure and maintain safe walking surfaces.

Meanwhile, slip-and-fall litigation continues to grow into a multi-billion-dollar industry.

The American Floor Safety Alliance takes a different approach. Our organization is made up exclusively of slip resistance testing experts focused on prevention.
